On Sunday May 28, the Maroon Festival Fan Day and River Parade will culminate in a special set from chart-topping blues and roots duo BUSBY MAROU, who will perform FREE for thousands of fans on the Queenslander Stage at South Bank.
As Rockhampton natives who are passionate about rugby league, Thomas Busby and Jeremy Marou are thrilled to be performing at a festival celebrating all things Queensland.
Busby Marou’s ARIA chart-topping album, Postcards From The Shell House, was inspired by the boys’ home state and was partly recorded here – in Great Keppel Island to be precise, off the coast of their hometown.
Reflecting on Busby Marou’s success, songwriter and lead vocalist Thomas Busby says: “There’s something special about Busby Marou. At the bottom of it all, it’s two blokes singing with harmonies and a bit of storytelling.”
A potent chemistry and simple, intangible understanding has led to a remarkable rise for mates Busby and Jeremy Marou.
In 2014, Busby Marou’s debut self-titled album was certified ARIA Gold, while their follow-up album, Farewell Fitzroy, debuted at No.5 on the album chart.
The Maroon Festival is proud to be showcasing these world-class performers, who have made a name for themselves as one of Queensland’s greatest musical exports.
