Queensland Rugby League, in partnership with The Star Entertainment Group, is pleased to announce an amazing array of eating and drinking options for the whole family at the inaugural MAROON FESTIVAL being held at the South Bank Cultural Forecourt.
From Sunday 28 May until Wednesday 31 May, South Bank will come alive in a sea of maroon, as proud and passionate supporters come together to celebrate rugby league and the very best of Queensland, including our incredible fresh produce.
Across the four day festival, some of Brisbane’s best local eateries, cafes and food trucks will be making appearances at theTASTES OF QLD FOOD STALLS. From 10am daily, they will be serving up special, signature dishes that showcase and celebrate the phenomenal range of quality produce available from the great state of Queensland.
As part of the TASTES OF QLD FOOD STALLS, patrons will be able to enjoy delicious eats from the following food vendors.
Queensland institution, Schulte’s, which has been running for over 30 years, will be offering their tasty cured meats made in the Lockyer Valley region. Their mouth-watering mettwurst, beer sticks and beef jerky make for the perfect footy snack!
At The Farmers Table, friends and family can come together and feast on organic Gympie pulled pork sliders and free range chicken burgers topped with kimchi made on the Gold Coast. Hand-crafted arepas, tacos and nachos, all made with fresh local ingredients, can be found at the Fiery Deli.
Southbank favourite, Popolo will have plenty of Italian goodies for the whole crew to enjoy. Their menu will feature toasted fennel meatballs with Bundaberg tomato sugo and shaved parmesan, along with slow roasted Gatton pumpkin and feta arancini.
Sultans Kitchen will spice things up with their tasty butter chicken sourced from Ipswich, crunchy fire chips loaded with minted aioli, and mixed vegetable curry filled with seasonal vegetables sourced from the Darling Downs.
Brazza will be throwing Eight Mile Plains grass fed beef on the barbie, along with Tamborine Mountain halloumi and mushrooms, all grilled over natural Australian charcoals. Bring it on!
Also joining the celebrations are popular Brisbane food truck Saté House, with their signature Malay and Indonesian inspired delicacies, and South East Queensland’s healthiest mobile van, Whips & Co. Treat yourself to their refreshing soft serves made with vegan CocoWhip, topped with goji berries, blueberries and other delectable raw goodies from the Gold Coast. Trust us – there will be something for everyone here, Queenslander or not!
Open every day of the festival, the WATERFRONT GARDEN BAR will serve as the Maroon’s social hub – a place to meet, eat, drink and enjoy the abundance of free entertainmentby the river.
Featuring a delicious menu of shareable (or not) dishes made with local produce by Zen Catering, the WATERFRONT GARDEN BAR is where fans can enjoy a fine selection of gourmet rolls and sandwiches, mixed cheese, charcuterie meat and antipasto platter, as well as a wide range of beers (XXXX of course), ciders, wines, spirits and non-alcoholic beverages.
